Your body reacts to your thoughts as if they are facts. -Dr. Nicole LePera (The Holistic Psychologist)

Fun Fact Friday: Your Brain Is Basically a Drama Queen… With a Good Heart
Fun fact: Your brain can’t actually tell the difference between a real threat and an imagined one.
That’s right—whether you’re running from a bear or just thinking about an uncomfortable text you haven’t replied to yet… your brain sounds the alarm the same way.
And it gets better (or worse, depending on the day):
If you imagine a worst-case scenario—like being rejected, embarrassed, fired, or forgotten—your brain can physically react as if it’s happening right now.
Cue the racing heart, tight chest, shallow breath, and full-body tension. All because you made up a story in your head.
Why?
Because your brain’s #1 job is survival.
Not logic. Not nuance. Not chill.
It hears: “What if they’re mad at me?”
And responds: “INCOMING THREAT—EVERYBODY PANIC!”
The twist?
That means your brain is a total drama queen.
But like… the kind that throws glitter and flings itself on the couch yelling, “I just care so much!!”
It’s intense—but it’s also trying to protect you.
Your brain loves you. It just needs a little help telling the difference between real danger and a made-up plot twist.

Me?
I pause.
I breathe.
I create.
I find healing through movement, art, and those quiet little moments where the world finally slows down.
My brain may overthink—but I’m learning how to over-care for it, too.
