A Spark of Color & Memory
One of my favorite memories with my mommy was sitting and coloring together. She was so creative—an artist in her own quiet way. I could honestly watch her color for hours. Her hands moved so gently, and the way she blended colors made even the simplest pages feel magical.
She inspired me to start drawing… and eventually, to create chalk art scenes and whole worlds on paper.
Her favorite color was lemon yellow.
And wouldn’t you know—it’s one of mine too.
Not long ago, I was drawing a little landscape and thinking of her. She always helped me with perspective, and while I was lost in that memory, I didn’t know she had passed away that same day.
Maybe it was just a coincidence.
But maybe… it was her way of saying goodbye.
And somehow, that makes me feel warm inside.
So in honor of her, and of creativity that connects us, let’s color together today.
Post a piece of your art in the comments—whatever makes you feel joyful or creative. Doodles, paintings, digital, crayons—it all counts.
And if you want a cozy activity, grab a copy of my coloring book:

I’ll post one of the pages I colored too. Let’s fill this space with color, memory, and a little bit of whimsy.
